Features: Reading The Notebooks of Rodin has made our previous vague understanding of Rodin clearer. "Rodin was a poet, a seer, a serious craftsman in art, working like a farmer, close to the earth, like the painter Millet; a natural man, with a stubborn character brought from nature; a man praised and sensitive to sorrow, an unbalanced person, a person in a state of pathological tension, like Heine in self-reflection; a man who loved life and was full of imagination; an interpreter of Baudelaire, who grasped Dante's 'divine' and expressed nature directly with his passion; a sculptor tormented spiritually, infusing rhythm into his works." "He was a genius, a melancholic, magical, and resilient person." The Notebooks of Rodin records and reflects on every meticulously carved work of Rodin. The words are fresh, rich in romantic color, and filled with a strong literary atmosphere. Reading it feels like immersing oneself in the world Rodin comprehended, not only appreciating the poetic language but also experiencing the dedication of Rodin as an artist, pouring his entire soul into art. Especially when facing different social pressures and resisting various preachings, Rodin's resilience truly reflects the noble sentiments of an artist! No wonder his secretary, Judith Cladel, could dedicate all her energy to editing and publishing Rodin's notebooks. This is a manifestation of the artist's personal charm and a profound understanding that transcends life.
