Features: The first 54 titles of the "Contemporary Collection of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics" have achieved great success since their release in September 2000. The initial print run of 5,000 sets was in high demand, requiring a second print run of 6,000 sets by October. Publishing such a large-scale collection of linguistic works within such a short period is rare in the history of academic publishing in China. Since its publication, many institutions and individuals have rushed to order it. Graduate and undergraduate students regard the Collection as a valuable guide, while teachers of all ages consider it a source of knowledge renewal. Practice has proven that the Collection, launched by FLTRP, has been widely praised by the domestic linguistics and foreign language teaching communities. It will become a treasure trove for advancing linguistic teaching, research, and foreign language teaching and research in China.
Building on the success of the first 54 titles, FLTRP is now launching the second batch of 58 titles in the Collection. The second batch of the Collection features five key characteristics:
1. Comprising 58 original English-language works, it covers 33 disciplines, an increase from the first batch's 26, including newly added fields such as the history of linguistics, philosophy of language, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origins of language, and chemical grammar theory, thereby more comprehensively meeting readers' needs;
2. It includes influential works by renowned contemporary linguists such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, ensuring higher authority;
3. It incorporates classic linguistic works published by world-renowned publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press;
4. It continues to feature expert introductions, with a stronger team of experts than the first batch;
5. The Collection is prefaced by the world-renowned linguist Professor Noam Chomsky and the distinguished Chinese linguist Professor Shen Jiashuan.
This Collection is a large-scale, open-ended series that will actively promote the development of linguistic teaching, research, and foreign language teaching and research in China. In the future, FLTRP will continue to introduce new and influential works in linguistics and applied linguistics, constantly offering the latest and most significant contributions to readers.
