Selected Poems of Ancient Rome

Author: Fei Bai
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2002-09-09
Features: Like Greek epic poetry, ancient Roman poetry is not only a source of Western poetry but also a source of Western art. To help readers gain a more vivid understanding of the world depicted in ancient Roman poetry, and also due to the inherent close relationship between poetry and art, the author has selected some sculptures and famous paintings to include in the book. This small book might be considered an "introduction," or perhaps even calling it an "introduction" is a bit inadequate. But it only hopes to lead Chinese readers to the threshold of the magnificent ancient Roman poetic palace.
