1. This book covers the original Guangzhou Prefecture city and its suburbs as its scope, intending to examine the historical evolution of city and district changes, hence it focuses on the ancient and overlooks the modern. Changes after the Republic of China should be recorded separately.
2. All references are annotated with the original source below; opinions appended are marked with "Note" indented two spaces to distinguish them.
3. The quoted works vary in era, resulting in different tones; to preserve authenticity, they are generally left unchanged. Readers are advised to interpret them accordingly.
4. For city and district streets without verifiable records, they are left blank, as the author dares not fabricate details. If further research yields findings, they will be included in future editions.
5. This book plans to include detailed historical maps, but as the research and drawing are not yet complete, they will be added in due course.
