Patient's question:
I heard this morning about my sister's little one, apparently he has very rapid breathing. The local doctor checked, and said it might be neonatal pulmonary edema. Everyone in the family is very worried and anxious. How is neonatal pulmonary edema treated?Doctor's answer:
Neonatal hyaline membrane disease is a self-limiting condition. It usually does not require treatment. Severe cases: 1. Enhanced care and warmth, with intravenous fluids if necessary, with a daily energy intake of at least 209 kJ/kg (50 kcal/kg) and a total fluid volume of 60-80 ml/kg. 2. Intermittent oxygen supply is not recommended for continuous positive pressure breathing to avoid exacerbating pulmonary emphysema. When the baby shows signs of discomfort, it is important to take them to the hospital for examination and treatment.
