How to alleviate male infertility

Patient's question:

I've been married for 4 years already. At first, I didn't want children. Starting this year, I stopped using contraception, but after so long, I still haven't gotten pregnant. I went to the hospital for a check-up, and everything was normal. It seems like it's my husband's problem. I want to ask, what should I do if I have male infertility?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, infertility caused by genitourinary tract infections is primarily treated with antibiotic anti-inflammatory therapy, supplemented by medications to enhance sperm vitality. In cases of oligospermia and idiopathic infertility, endocrine treatment with sex hormone drugs should be the main approach. For individuals with low sperm motility, medication to improve sperm vitality should be the primary treatment. Surgical intervention is recommended for infertility caused by varicocele, vas deferens obstruction, cryptorchidism, or urethral duplication.
It is advisable to first take your partner to the hospital for a check-up to identify the underlying factors or causes. Once the issue is determined to be related to physical factors, treatment can proceed accordingly. Additionally, it is strongly recommended to avoid smoking, drinking alcohol, and consuming carbonated beverages, as these can be harmful to sperm and may lead to reduced sperm count and infertility.
