Features: The book The Tradition of Civil Disobedience in the West took nearly two years from conception to publication, undergoing meticulous refinement to ensure it became a masterpiece. As an editor, I have many thoughts to share, and it is not redundant to express a few of them here. "Civil disobedience" is a purely Western concept, a highly distinctive theoretical and practical behavior in Western-style democratic politics. This book introduces it as a scholarly element in Western political science, aiming to help domestic scholars understand this necessary aspect of Western political thought. I believe readers will discern this on their own. During the selection and translation process, different chapters were assigned to separate translators and authors, and there are instances where content from one chapter is cited in another. As a result, the same original paragraph may appear in different translations throughout the book. To maintain coherence in meaning while preserving the unique writing styles of each translator, these variations have been retained without any alteration. I kindly ask readers to excuse this unconventional approach.
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to the editor of this book, He Huahong, who, despite his illness, devoted significant effort to ensuring its successful publication. Special thanks are extended to him for his invaluable contributions.
