Features: A Personal Chronicle of Wu Mi is a chronological autobiography that Wu Mi began compiling in the 1960s. It includes his memories and reflections from his childhood, his studies and activities at Tsinghua University, the influence of Western culture and thought during his time studying in the United States, and his various experiences after returning to China, teaching Western literature at Southeast University in Nanjing, and founding the Xueheng magazine. Due to the interference of the Cultural Revolution, Mr. Wu's personal chronicle was only completed up to 1924. The events of 1925 were recorded through oral accounts after he became blind. We deeply regret the interruption of the Chronicle's writing, as I believe it is an outstanding literary work. It employs a classical Chinese prose style in the manner of Liang Qichao, which is exceptionally clear, fluent, natural, and vivid. Mr. Wu's memory is truly remarkable; the events he narrates and the characters he depicts are written with great specificity, detail, and lifelike realism, giving readers the sense of having experienced them firsthand.
