Patient's question:
I have always been in good health and take good care of personal hygiene. However, recently I've been experiencing itching in the external genital area, especially around the pubic hair, which feels very painful. A few days ago, after a thorough examination at the hospital, I was diagnosed with pubic lice. I want to know the symptoms of pubic lice in women. What kind of help I need: What are the symptoms of pubic lice in women?
Doctor's answer:
Scabies treatment must be based on topical skin products, as adult scabies and their eggs reappear on the skin surface and hair follicle roots. Oral medications and intravenous drugs do not have any therapeutic effect. It is recommended that if scabies is detected, early treatment should be initiated to completely eradicate it. This helps prevent the infection from spreading to other parts of the body and recurring. Shaving the body hair and using a product that can thoroughly remove both adult scabies and their eggs for active treatment is generally sufficient, with symptoms typically resolving within 3-5 days.
If treatment is incomplete or only adult scabies on the skin and hair shafts are removed, the eggs in the hair follicle roots will hatch after some time, leading to recurrence. This ensures successful treatment.
It is generally recommended to use Kwell (Permethrin) for treatment.
