The Revolution in Management (Theories and Methods for Creating Learning Organizations)

Author: Yu Wenzhao, Editor-in-Chief
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2003-11-01
Features: This book is the research outcome of the author's National Natural Science Foundation of China project titled "Research on the Theory and Methods of Establishing Learning Organizations in Modern Enterprises." It is a research-based publication with a certain depth in theoretical and methodological elaboration. However, to attract a broad readership and fulfill the role of popularization, the book has omitted a large amount of complex data processing, striving to be both profound and accessible to readers at large. The book is divided into eight chapters. Chapter 1 is titled "Learning Organizations—The Revolution in Management," which primarily outlines the main content of learning organizations and the five disciplines, supplemented by numerous case studies to help readers understand that in real organizations, it is essential to successfully establish learning organizations. Chapter 2, "The Theoretical Basis and Framework of Learning Organizations," systematically analyzes the theoretical foundation of learning organizations, such as systems dynamics and learning theory. More importantly, this chapter innovatively proposes new perspectives, such as the "Learning Organization as a Human-Centered Organization" theory, the "Learning Person" humanistic assumption, and the "Continuous Learning as the Cultural Core of Learning Organizations." Chapters 3, 5, and 7 are titled "The Theory and Methods of Cultivating Learning-Oriented Employees," "The Theory and Methods of Creating Learning-Oriented Teams," and "The Theory and Methods of Cultivating Learning-Oriented Leaders," respectively. These chapters innovatively propose that when cultivating learning-oriented employees, emphasis should be placed on self-management and autonomous learning, and specific methods for implementing employee autonomous learning strategy training are provided. Chapter 7 introduces "The Theory and Methods of Organizational Learning." In summary, this book not only includes the research achievements of previous scholars but, more importantly, features innovative outcomes obtained through the diligent efforts of the research team led by the author. As part of the report to the National Natural Science Foundation of China and a broad readership, it is hoped that the book will receive more feedback after publication.
