How to deal with bilateral varicocele?

Patient's question:

I have bilateral varicocele, and I had surgery on April 26th. It has been over ten days now. In the days after the surgery, I had mild discomfort in my scrotum, but recently it has become more severe. The pain is so intense that I can't even touch my scrotum. Is this normal?

Doctor's answer:

Generally, the diameter of varicocele is less than 0.2 cm. A condition of 0.3 cm indicates a more severe varicocele. This condition can easily lead to low sperm survival rates, poor sperm quality, and infertility in men. If you have this condition, it is recommended to seek examination and treatment as soon as possible. Surgical ligation of the high spermatic vein should be performed. It is also advisable to wear loose underwear and get adequate rest. Wishing you good health.
