Features: It is said that among some Chinese language teachers, there is a saying: "When attending a lesson, attend Li Zhenxi's." I have never had the chance to attend Zhenxi's lessons, which is a great regret; however, from these teaching recordings, I can still easily feel the effortless composure in Zhenxi's classroom, the flashes of insight and humor. Listening to such lessons is indeed an artistic pleasure! I believe many Chinese language teachers consider it a blessing to attend Zhenxi's lessons, and there is good reason for this. Renowned Chinese language educator Qian Menglong had a unique feeling when reading Listening to Li Zhenxi Teach. Both Li Zhenxi's lessons and his writings possess a distinctive charm. I seem to struggle to summarize it with just a few adjectives. My intuition is that Li Zhenxi's lessons are his own—they are born from the collision of his heart, his thoughts, his emotions, his understanding of the text, and his perception of life with his students. His lessons carry his distinct personal characteristics. There is a kind of magic in Li Zhenxi's lessons that deeply attracts students and those who "read" his lessons. What is it in Li Zhenxi's lessons that attracts people? Of course, we can say it is his poet-like passion, or his democratic teaching style that treats students as equals, or his art of effortlessly mastering the classroom. What kind of charm is this? The inspiration Li Zhenxi's lessons give us is: only when teaching is brought into a real-life context does a teacher's personal charm have meaning. A teacher's personal charm is the charm of life, and only the charm of life can be the charm of teaching.
