Features: A historical record soaked in 1,200 tons of human blood, The Nanjing Massacre Documentation Project reveals a brutal and authentic side of history. The blood and tears of over 300,000 people, the battle history of the Nanjing Defense War, irrefutable evidence of Japanese atrocities, reports from foreign media, and records of justiciable trials—all of which make this collection of materials extremely valuable. The entire 15 million words are composed of original first-hand materials, with no single sentence or word added by the editors to preserve the authenticity of the historical records. Many of the materials are published for the first time, presenting them to a broad readership and covering all aspects of the massacre history. With undeniable facts, the collection shows the truth of the historical events to the world. This book is one of them. This volume is titled Investigation and Statistics of the Compensation Committee and is divided into three parts: the origins of Japan's compensation investigation, the establishment and organization of the Compensation Committee, and the special investigation of the Nanjing Massacre case by the Compensation Committee. Although the statistics of population and property losses during the war compiled by the National Government's Accounting Office in 1940, the statistics of property losses in various provinces and cities of the National Government's Executive Yuan in 1943, and the statistics of transportation losses in the country during the war in 1943 were not organized by the Compensation Committee, they are included as appendices because they are important national materials and valuable sources for studying the damages caused by Japan's invasion of China. They also help deepen our understanding of the importance of investigating the Nanjing Massacre case.
