How to deal with hematospermia after treatment for a period of time without recovery

Patient's question:

Before, I had no similar experience. On the same night, I had sex twice. The first time was normal, but the second time I experienced symptoms of blood in the semen.

Doctor's answer:

If the hematospermia occurs only occasionally and no specific changes are found upon examination, it may be caused by the rupture of small blood vessels due to sudden congestion and mechanical trauma during sexual intercourse. For this transient hematospermia, there is no need to panic. It can be fully restored by abstaining from sexual activity for one or two weeks. However, bleeding caused by inflammation tends to be intermittent, such as prostatitis, seminal vesiculitis, urethritis, epididymitis, prostatic calculi, or ureteral-bladder calculi. If the hematospermia persists and worsens progressively, the possibility of a tumor cannot be ruled out. In some cases, patients may also have a widespread bleeding tendency in other parts of the body, which could indicate a systemic hemorrhagic disorder, such as leukemia or thrombocytopenia. It is recommended that you visit our Reproductive Infection Department for diagnosis and symptomatic treatment to avoid delaying the condition.
