Features: This book is logically connected to our previously published book "Strategic Management of Multinational Corporations," but it explores different focuses. The latter focuses on the functional strategies of multinational corporations, while this book focuses on strategic competition among multinational corporations. Therefore, this book inevitably involves new theories in strategic management—Superior Competitive Strategy theory—and the global competition and globalization of multinational corporations. The second part of this book is an appendix, which includes case studies on the strategic competition of multinational corporations. Many of the companies discussed in this section are Chinese, in the broad sense of multinational corporations. These Chinese multinational corporations are still in the initial stages of global competition. When competing with Western multinational corporations in the same industry, these Chinese companies often operate in the mid-to-low-end product segments, while Western multinational corporations have significant advantages in high-value, high-end products. Due to the of these Chinese multinational corporations, scholars studying the global competition of Western multinational corporations need to separate the cases of Chinese companies. Additionally, because Chinese enterprises have the practical need to develop their own multinational corporations, case studies of Chinese companies are included as an appendix in this book.
