Features: This book is intended to explain and argue to friends who know or do not know China, to fellow citizens who understand or do not understand themselves, and to the next generation that grows consciously or unconsciously, why the Chinese people can stand independently in the forest of human civilization and how they can rise peacefully amidst the impact of modern civilization. This book is also dedicated to the hardworking and wise Chinese people who have created the "25-Year China" in adversity, as well as all international friends. The writing of this book takes the emerging social groups of the past 25 years as a starting point for sociological psychology analysis. The six emerging groups mentioned in the book are knowledge elites, entrepreneurs, laid-off-employed workers, rural migrant workers, netizens, and leisure workers, each with their respective roles and vitality, becoming an important force driving China's reform, opening up, and development. However, this does not encompass all the strata or occupational groups in contemporary China, and the introduction provides some explanations on this matter.
Special mention in the preface and clarification: Scientists and the science and technology community engaged in scientific and technological activities are not given a separate chapter in the book. This is done only because, in a relative sense of characteristics, scientists and the science and technology community are distinguished from the six groups mentioned in the book. This distinction is relative to the "emerging" role groups of the past 25 years, not relative to importance. The long-term arduous entrepreneurship of scientists and the science and technology community deserves never to be forgotten, and they are a group worth special praise. The development of China over the past 25 years has profoundly verified the proposition that "science and technology are productive forces."
