Features: The Tower of Babel Totem is a book of pure artistic extremity. Nietzsche's extremity is undeniable; he was an interesting old man who believed that life, as mere appearance, is meaningful only when perceived purely through art and reproduced through artistic representation. In other words, life exists only as an aesthetic object. Life is merely art and illusion. I imagine that if Nietzsche had seen The Tower of Babel Totem, he would have been pleased to have a for his own words. The content of The Tower of Babel Totem is a collaboration of poetry and painting. The illustrations were created by Li Yunfeng, whose "Li-style" artworks are among the greatest of the century. Li Yunfeng, like many young people, was born in the 1970s in Hebei. He lived in Beijing for seven or eight years. His artworks have been published and awarded in countries such as the United States, Japan, and France. He also writes poetry, and his poems have won awards and creative grants from publications like the U.S.-based New World and Taiwan's Grapevine. His exhibition at the U.S. Embassy was highly appreciated by the staff. The other part of The Tower of Babel Totem consists of poetry by Li Yunfeng, Tu An, Yin Longlong, Shu Cai, Bai Lianchun, Jun'er, Liu Qiangben, Tian Le, and Meihualuo, forming the first Chinese work of its kind that combines poetry and painting in a supernatural manner.
