How to treat balanoposthitis

Patient's question:

I have always been quite healthy, but recently I noticed some redness and swelling around my glans, and sometimes it itches. Then small bumps appeared, followed by discharge, which made me feel disgusted even when I looked at it myself. The symptoms also recurred on my foreskin. The doctor said it was balanoposthitis.

Doctor's answer:

Always maintain local cleanliness to prevent secondary infection; ② For serous and purulent discharge, use 3% boric acid solution or 0.1% Ringer's lactate for wet dressing; ③ Corticosteroid cream can be used for non-infectious subacute stage; ④ In chronic stage or dry desquamation, tetracycline and hydrocortisone ointment can be used; ⑤ If the infection is obvious with fever and lymph node enlargement, systemic antibiotics can be used, such as cephalaxin 0.5g, taken orally 3-4 times/day, or ofloxacin 0.2g, taken twice daily; ③ For patients with excessive prepuce, circumcision should be performed after the inflammation subsides.
