If you have balanitis, how is it treated?

Patient's question:

I have developed balanitis, and I don't know what to do. I saw a doctor who prescribed some medication for me. After taking it, I didn't feel much improvement. Should I go to a big hospital? What kind of careful examination is required besides seeing the doctor? Is the treatment expensive?

Doctor's answer:

Patients with negative smear results are vaccinated with the tested specimen on Sabouraud medium under sterile conditions. During vaccination, the culture dish medium is slightly cracked along the slant, and 2-3 sites are vaccinated per tube. Each specimen is vaccinated into 2 tubes. The medium is incubated in a 37°C incubator for 24-48 hours, after which it is carefully observed. A large number of creamy white colonies are observed. A very small amount of the colony is picked up with the vaccination needle and smeared for direct microscopic examination or staining for microscopic examination, revealing a large number of buds and spores, which can be preliminarily diagnosed as candidiasis. Candidal balanitis (balanoposthitis) can be found on the inflamed glans or foreskin by selecting material for microscopic examination or culture. Trichomoniasis balanitis can be found on the discharge by direct microscopic examination. Direct microscopic examination: Scrape off the scales from the surface of the skin lesions on the glans, coronal sulcus, or foreskin as the specimen for examination.
