Publish Date: 2005-06-01
Features: This book consists of three parts: the Sacred Site Maps of Confucius Temple in Qufu, Shandong, the Mengshi Ancestral Hall Maps of Mencius in Zou County, and the Rubbings of Confucius and the Seventy-two Disciples in Hangzhou Confucius Temple. The Sacred Site Maps adopt traditional vertical layout with traditional characters and include new-style punctuation. According to the current national language and character norms, variant characters have been replaced with standard characters (with some proper nouns retaining variant forms), while archaic characters, homophonic characters, abbreviated characters, and borrowed characters remain unchanged. If the original characters are suspected to be errors, the correct characters are noted in square brackets below without alteration. The rubbings in this book retain the original appearance of the source materials, with no technical processing, and we hope readers will appreciate this. The Confucius section comprehensively reflects his dedication to education and his pursuit of ideals, starting from his middle years when he began gathering disciples to teach. The Mencius section concisely summarizes his life.
