Features: This book includes some of the author's published works after the release of the "Collected Works" (Volumes I and II) in 1993, as well as a few supplementary essays beyond the two volumes. The articles in the book contain insightful arguments, not only contributing to the opposition of academic authoritarianism, the promotion of academic fairness, and the advancement of academic exchange, but also playing an active role in the in-depth discussion and development of Chinese language teaching and research in China. The author's "ideal pursuit" is how to elevate the nation's language teaching to a higher level. Indeed, youth is worth praising and admiring, but what is truly enviable is not the flashy clothes, snow-white skin, or graceful steps, but rather the dedication to hard work, striving for progress, and professional achievements. As the author grows older, he has come to understand life and himself to a certain extent, enabling him to do what he wants and what he is capable of, and to enjoy the life he can afford. However, he must develop according to his own characteristics and interests, not being swayed by "the fear of public opinion" or following social trends as the standard for choice. This reflects a kind of determination and focus in "what not to do." The author has published three volumes of "Collected Works," and due to the need for expression, some of the articles inevitably contain repetitions. Moreover, he is not trying to excessively "promote himself" or display arrogant self-praise, as doing so would lose sincerity and honesty, inevitably leading to hypocrisy and pretense.
