What are the hazards of the prostate?

Patient's question:

I have had prostatitis for a while, and it hasn't caused much trouble, so I didn't pay much attention. Today, while reading the newspaper, I learned that prostatitis can be quite harmful.

Doctor's answer:

Prostate diseases in the early stage can affect sexual function and fertility, potentially leading to infertility; they can cause chronic nephritis and may even progress to uremia. If prostatitis is not treated promptly, it can lead to benign prostatic hyperplasia. Infection can spread to close relatives, causing gynecological inflammation, such as candidal prostatitis, trichomoniasis prostatitis, gonococcal prostatitis, and non-gonococcal (chlamydial, mycoplasma) prostatitis. It is prone to transmission, and the infection caused by prostatitis can lead to acute urinary retention, acute seminal vesiculitis or epididymitis, orchitis, swelling or tenderness of the spermatic cord lymph nodes, and in severe cases, it may cause groin pain or renal colic.
