Illustrated Archaeology (Tracing the River of Civilization)

Author: Yu Haiguang, Editor-in-Chief
Publisher:
Publication Date: 2004-10-01
Features: I have been constantly seeing books and articles introducing major archaeological discoveries in China or some aspect of ancient culture, all of which are inspiring. These works not only provide professionals with important materials and new research findings but also open the eyes of the "outsiders," allowing more people to understand the richness and depth of ancient Chinese culture, thereby fostering a deep sense of pride in the great creations and inventions of our ancestors. Some may ask, the introductions often focus on a single significant discovery. As phenomena of ancient culture, even those considered a major aspect, how did they emerge? What was the foundation for their existence and what influence did they have on subsequent similar cultural phenomena? In other words, what was their developmental process? This led us to plan a comprehensive book on ancient Chinese culture, aiming to connect an important archaeological discovery, a series of artifacts and archaeological highlights with other related findings and research subjects, reflecting the origins and development of ancient Chinese culture, and enabling people to understand the process of ancient cultural development in a more systematic and comprehensive way. This is one of the purposes of this book. With "archaeological and cultural illustrations" as its framework, the book "invites" the abundant and complex cultural relics and historical sites out of their mysterious halls, in order to reflect the origins and development of ancient Chinese culture and help people understand the process of ancient cultural development in a more systematic and comprehensive manner. The book is richly illustrated and beautifully designed.
