How is balanoposthitis treated?

Patient's question:

Doctor, I can say without being humble that I am a successful man. I am still unmarried because I am a person who doesn't believe in marriage. I don't expect my life to have so many commitments. When I have the means, I often look for one-night stands, and I think it's quite good. But recently, I've noticed an odor in my glans. How should I treat balanitis?

Doctor's answer:

When suffering from balanoposthitis, potassium permanganate solution can be soaked and anti-inflammatory ointment can be applied. In case of allergic balanoposthitis, a large amount of oral antihistamines should be taken, along with topical corticosteroid ointments. If phimosis or edema of the prepuce prevents movement and drainage due to poor irrigation, general treatment is often administered. If the inflammation persists despite treatment, a preputial dorsal incision may be performed to facilitate drainage. After the inflammation completely subsides, circumcision can be performed. For mild irritation, Lanoke N can be taken orally for treatment. Balanitis can be completely prevented through annual preventive measures. Maintaining good hygiene habits is crucial for those with an overgrown prepuce or phimosis.
