Meanwhile, with the advancement of medical science, clinicians have continuously explored and innovated in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of anorectal diseases, developing many new technologies and equipment. However, due to the hidden nature of anorectal diseases, most patients seek medical attention only when their condition has become severe, leading to complex and variable conditions. This often leaves many new clinicians feeling bewildered when diagnosing and treating such diseases. To address this, we organized experts in this field to write the "Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Color Atlas of Anorectal Diseases." The book systematically introduces the anatomy and examination of the anus, rectum, and colon, focusing on 13 types of anorectal diseases, such as hemorrhoids, anal fissures, perianal abscesses, anal and rectal fistulas, rectal prolapse, fecal incontinence, anorectal stenosis, and anorectal sexually transmitted diseases, as well as 4 types of large intestine diseases, including colitis, colorectal polyps, familial adenomatous polyposis, and colorectal cancer. Detailed descriptions are provided for the etiology, pathology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and treatment of each disease. The book is rich in content and illustrated with vivid, clear color images, complementing the clinical manifestations and treatment processes. It enables professionals and future practitioners to gain a more intuitive understanding and mastery of diagnostic and treatment techniques for anorectal diseases and related advancements, thereby promoting exchange and jointly inheriting the ancient and modern civilizations of Western and Eastern medicine in the field of anorectal diseases. During the writing process, this book received strong support from Professor Tian Zhenuo, Vice President of the National Anorectal Association and President of the Liaoning Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Institute and Anorectal Hospital. Additionally, Professor Yu Dehong, Director of Surgery at Changhai Hospital of the Second Military Medical University, served as the chief editor and wrote the preface. Our sincere gratitude is extended to them all.
[Preface]
The history of traditional Chinese medicine is long and profound, with extensive valuable experiences accumulated in disease prevention and treatment. The discussion of anorectal diseases dates back over 2,000 years to the Neijing and has continuously evolved with historical progress, making significant contributions to the cause of human health. With advancements in technology and the efforts of clinicians in recent years, the field of anorectal medicine has developed rapidly, giving rise to many new technologies and equipment, which have provided new concepts and methods for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of anorectal diseases. Due to the diverse tissues and complex structures of the anorectal region, as well as its importance as a vital organ in the human body, clinical diagnosis and treatment require a certain degree of specialization. This necessitates that healthcare professionals in this field deeply master the characteristics of disease onset and strive to continuously improve their diagnostic and treatment skills. Currently, there are few books in China dedicated to the prevention and treatment of anorectal diseases with accompanying illustrations. Dr. Yu Yongduo has summarized his experiences over the past decade in the medical, teaching, and research aspects of anorectal medicine, collecting and compiling a wealth of materials for this book. This spirit is commendable. As an older practitioner in the field of anorectal medicine, I am deeply moved to see the flourishing growth of young professionals and the continuation of the anorectal cause. The book "Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Color Atlas of Anorectal Diseases" is practical, richly illustrated, and equipped with clear, intuitive images for the diagnosis and surgical treatment of various anorectal diseases, featuring nearly 300 color photographs. The writing is fluent, the descriptions accurate, and it possesses certain clinical guidance, making it suitable for reference by anorectal surgeons, general surgeons, and medical students. I am enthusiastic about recommending this book.
