What should I do if there is something growing under the foreskin of the glans?

Patient's question:

I have a meatball-sized lump in the inner foreskin under my glans, about the size of half a red bean. What is this? I'm very scared. It doesn't hurt or itch, but it's hard. What should I do?

Doctor's answer:

Consider the possibility of pearls. It is also known as pearly penile papules, corona glandis, or glans papules, and some scholars call it hirsutoid papillomatosis or polypapillary penile papillomatosis. Currently, most scholars believe that this is a normal physiological variation and will not have any impact on health, nor will it be transmitted or spread through sexual intercourse. The lesions primarily occur at the junction of the glans edge and the corona glandis and/or the frenulum. The lesions are papules with a size of 1-3 mm, with larger lesions on both sides of the frenulum. The tops of the papules are round and smooth, with some appearing hair-like or thread-like. The papules are mostly non-fused and densely arranged in four or more rows, clearly visible on the dorsal side of the glans, and can partially or completely surround the glans. The color of the lesions is mostly pearl-like white, with a few being pale red or skin-colored, and some may show mild redness and swelling.
