Features: This book elaborates on the scope, framework structure, and theoretical system of development economics. Its framework structure includes: economic development and economic growth; the factor structure of development—population, labor, human capital, capital, ecology, environment, and resources, technology, etc.; the economic structure of development—agricultural modernization, industrialization, and changes in spatial structure; the open system and state of development; the role of institutional factors in development; economic development regulation: government and market. In addition to absorbing mature theories of Western development economics, this book has two major features: (1) summarizing some development economic laws based on the actual economic development of China, supplementing the theoretical system of development economics; (2) conducting innovative research in explaining the errors of the Todaro population mobility model in traditional development economics, arguing for the trend of population concentration, and analyzing the economic reasons behind the origin and formation of urban and urban network systems. Development economics was heavily influenced by government-led theories in the 1950s. Considering the return and reform of the global market economy system and the establishment of China's socialist market economy system, this book has made significant revisions to past content, incorporating a neoclassical economic theory that emphasizes market regulation of resource allocation. The book focuses on fundamental principles, knowledge, and the system of development economics, targeting undergraduate university students. Therefore, it includes fewer mathematical models, is easy to understand, and is suitable for teaching.
