Features: Hong Qian, also known as Hong Qian, styled Shoushi. His ancestral home was in She County, Anhui, and he was born in Fujian in 1909. While studying law at the preparatory department of Southeast University, he published an article discussing Wang Yangming in Xueheng. Kang Youwei, upon reading it, found him to have great philosophical talent and invited him to meet at the Shanghai Yushuyuan. He then recommended him to study under Liang Qichao. Later, Liang Qichao introduced him to the Imperial University of Tokyo in Japan to study under the authority Yüno Tetsujin. However, due to illness, he stayed in Japan for only six months before returning. After returning, he attended the preparatory department of the National College of Chinese Studies at Tsinghua University for a year, receiving careful guidance from Liang Qichao and Liang Tingcan. Hong Qian's main works were initially written and published in German or English, then translated into Chinese. This was partly because Chinese translations were easier to find than the original texts, and partly because the original texts allowed readers to better understand his academic contributions. Therefore, we have included the most important several foreign-language articles in their original form, along with corresponding translations.
