How should children be weaned?

Patient's question:

Can I switch the baby formula? She often gets sick, so I want to change the formula. Is that okay? What kind of formula should I use?

Doctor's answer:

The transfer of milk can be done as follows: First, add 1/3 of the new formula milk to the old formula milk. This way, there will be no discomfort after consuming it for two or three days. For the next two or three days, both the old and new formula milk will be consumed in equal halves (1/2 each). Then, for the next two or three days, 1/3 of the old formula milk and 2/3 of the new formula milk will be consumed. Finally, the old formula milk will be completely replaced by the new formula milk.
During the days when the baby is being transferred to milk, be careful not to introduce any new complementary foods. Do not transfer milk during the baby's illness (such as colds, fever, rashes, etc.) or vaccination.
