Features: Starting from December 11, 2006, China will, in accordance with its commitments under the WTO, ultimately lift restrictions on foreign-funded banks in terms of geography, customers, and approval processes, granting them national treatment. The banking sector in China will enter a new competitive landscape. Based on this new framework, this book seeks to explore the legal basis for China's regulation and supervision of financial services trade within the framework of the WTO's rules on financial services trade, and proposes a design for improving China's relevant regulatory and supervisory systems. The book is divided into nine chapters, which can be categorized into two parts. The first part primarily analyzes the direct and indirect impacts of the WTO's financial services trade system on China's financial industry, proposes and elaborates on the legal framework and hierarchy of the WTO's regulation of financial services trade, and discusses fundamental issues such as the basis and philosophy for China's regulation and supervision of international financial services trade. The second part analyzes and explores the key issues China needs to address in improving its regulation of international financial services trade after the WTO entry transition period, covering aspects such as market access regulation, capital regulation, market exit regulation, and international regulatory cooperation.
