Author: Zhou You [Ming Dynasty]
Publisher:
Publish Date: 1999-12-01
Features: The records begin with the legendary story of Pangu opening the heavens and dividing the earth. It covers the Three Sovereigns, Five Emperors, Xia, Shang dynasties, and ends with the overthrow of the Shang by King Wu of Zhou. It is an ancient historical romance that supplements the shortcomings of Ming Dynasty storytelling novels, based on various folk legends and historical records. The book aims to narrate the history of the ancient times since the beginning of creation, collecting a relatively rich content of mythological legends. However, its language is simple and unadorned, and it did not gain widespread popularity in later generations.
