Features: The Oirat Mongols, also known as the Eleut or Erunt Mongols during the Qing Dynasty. In the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty, the Oirat consisted of four divisions: the Junggar, the Khoshut; the Durbet and the Torghut; the Torghut migrated westward. The Khoton division, originally subordinate to the Durbet, joined the four divisions, forming the Oirat Four Divisions. Among the four divisions, the nobles of the Junggar and Durbet had the surname Choros, the nobles of the Khoshut had the surname Borjigit, the nobles of the Khoton had the surname Ikminan, and the nobles of the Torghut had no recorded surname in historical texts. The Oirat Mongol divisions roamed in the eastern and southern regions of Lake Balkhash and the surrounding areas. They began trade exchanges with the Qing Dynasty in the early years of the Shunzhi Emperor. The Qing court attached great importance to the nomadic tribes on the western frontier. During the Kangxi era, Galdan invaded the Khalkha, advanced into Inner Mongolia, and posed a direct threat to Beijing, creating a significant threat to the Qing court. Starting from the Kangxi era, the Qing court adopted military conquest and political persuasion to subdue the Oirat Mongols. After enduring the reign of the Yongzheng Emperor, it was not until the Qianlong era that the Oirat Mongols were finally conquered.
