Mysterious Bagua (Panoramic Views on the Study of the I Ching)

Author: Wang Yude, Yao Dejun, Zeng Leiguang

Publishing Date: 2004-01-01
Features: The I Ching is increasingly becomingized. If its true nature is not revealed, if it is not separated from superstition, and if its impurities are not cleansed, many people will be deceived, and old customs will spread. Moreover, the I Ching—a unique flower born from the special soil of the Chinese nation—has its branches extending overseas, attracting the admiration of foreigners. In Japan, India, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other places, there are devout followers and researchers everywhere. This feedback from abroad has promoted the enthusiasm for I Ching studies in the domestic academic community. This book has three distinct features:
Focus on the comprehensive perspective of the I Ching. Currently, research on the I Ching doctrine is marked by many disagreements. If the I Ching is compared to a magical mountain, then its research status can be metaphorically described by the poem: "From different angles, the mountain appears as ridges or peaks; near or far, high or low, each perspective is unique. Without knowing the true face of Mount Lu, it is because one is immersed within it." Scholars hold their own views, with no consensus.
Focus on accessibility. In this book, we use simple and language to introduce the basic knowledge and terminology of the I Ching, as well as the achievements of research in various aspects. We speak at length when there is much to say and concisely when there is little, ensuring the content is meaningful. Readers with a junior high school education or higher can understand this book.
Focus on scientific rigor. In this book, we attempt to discuss the I Ching from the perspective of historical materialism and a pragmatic scientific attitude, without concealing the flaws or exaggerating the merits. We clear the dust from the I Ching doctrine, allowing the distorted aspects to be corrected.
