Features: "World History and Culture (Volume 1)" is a teaching book designed to meet the current needs of China's secondary school history curriculum reform. It provides a study resource for teacher trainees and students in "Comprehensive Liberal Arts" and related fields to research and learn world (ancient, modern) history and culture. The guiding principle behind the book is to integrate history and culture organically, with history as the backdrop and human culture as the main content, allowing readers to learn about culture within history and understand history through culture. To this end, the book follows the "Full-time Compulsory Education History and Society Curriculum Standards (Part 1) (Trial Version)" formulated by the Ministry of Education, primarily organizing the content and structure of the textbook along a chronological line. It is worth mentioning that before each chapter, we have included a dedicated section or part to introduce the basic historical and social context corresponding to that chapter. The purpose is to enable readers to learn about culture within history and prevent the separation of history and culture. In addition to the chronological thread, the book also dedicates specific chapters to introduce major issues in cultural history, such as religion, the scientific revolution, and modern bourgeois political revolutions. Furthermore, Chinese history and culture are, of course, a part of world history and culture. However, since it is typically studied as a separate discipline, and this book focuses on foreign history and culture, it is not elaborated on in detail here.
