Features: Feng Gan Yu Hua was written by Wang Shizheng (1634–1711), styled Zizhen, also known as Yishang, styled Runtin, and later as Yuyang Shanshan. He was from Xincheng, Shandong (now Hantai County, Zibo City, Shandong Province). Born into a bureaucratic family, Wang Shizheng was diligent in writing throughout his life and authored numerous works. Among his notebooks alone, he wrote Chi Bei Ou Tan, Ju Yi Lu, Xiang Zu Bi Ji, Gu Fu Yu Ting Za Lu, and more. Feng Gan Yu Hua is just one of his notebooks. It is a collection that combines personal observations and discussions on academic matters. The book consists of four volumes and is not lengthy, but its content is extremely broad, covering everything from the writings of his ancestors and historical institutions to poetry criticism, geographical research, anecdotes of scholars, etymological analysis, lost ancient books, social customs, local products, and even medical remedies. The earliest published edition of this book is the one ordered in the 48th year of the Kangxi reign, and both the Qiao Lue Shu Tang annotated edition and the stone-printed editions from the Republican era were derived from it. For this edition, the initial printing was used as the base text. All quoted passages that raised doubts were verified and corrected, and some typographical errors in the original text were also corrected. Words added or corrected are marked with square brackets [], while the original misprints are retained. Additionally, to facilitate readers' searches, titles were added to each entry, and they were uniformly numbered.
