Can men with azoospermia be treated?

Patient's question:

I am a 25-year-old divorced man who has been divorced for over a year. After the divorce, I went to Wuhan Union Hospital for a thorough examination of my semen, but the results showed azoospermia. I don't know if it cannot be treated?

Doctor's answer:

The causes of azoospermia include: first, the testes themselves have impaired spermatogenesis; second, the testes have normal spermatogenesis function, but the spermatic ducts are blocked. Generally speaking, for azoospermic patients with normal-sized testes, surgical treatment should be considered first, utilizing microsurgical techniques such as anastomosis of the spermatic duct, tube placement, and relaxation. For azoospermic patients with small or soft testes, testicular biopsy or endocrine hormone reflex testing should be performed first. If the spermatogenic cells are still healthy, effective drug treatment can be adopted.
