What are the symptoms of prostatitis?

Patient's question:

I've been experiencing frequent urination these days. Sometimes in the morning, there's discharge from my urethra. I've never had this before. Am I sick? My friend says it's because my prostate isn't doing well. I want to know what the signs of a prostate problem are?

Doctor's answer:

1. Dysuria: The bladder irritation symptoms may recur, such as frequent urination, a burning sensation and pain during urination that radiates to the head of the penis. Mucus or other secretions may be present at the urethral meatus in the morning, and a feeling of difficulty urinating may also recur;
2. Local symptoms: A sense of heaviness and discomfort in the posterior urethra, perineum, and anus, which worsens when squatting, having a bowel movement, or sitting on chairs or benches for a long time;
3. Radiating pain: The pain of chronic prostatitis does not limit itself to the urethra and perineum but also reflects to nearby areas, with lower back pain being the most common;
4. Sexual dysfunction: Chronic prostatitis can lead to decreased libido, painful ejaculation, premature ejaculation, and affect semen quality. Urethral discharge may also occur after urination or a bowel movement, and hematospermia may occur during seminal vesiculitis.
