Features: These "super men" — the Chinese emperors — enjoy super quality of life and super status, yet they suffer from tragic destinies and lack freedom. This book presents a categorized reading approach, comprehensively analyzing the characteristics of various Chinese emperors and interpreting their extraordinary "super" imperial lives. It gathers solid historical records scattered in history into a powerful fist, shattering the "divine" imperial shell ("All descendants of the High Emperor have high noses, the dragon species are distinct from ordinary people"); with concise language, it skillfully wipes away the seemingly radiant yet illusory golden halo on the high noses of the self-proclaimed "scions of heaven," restoring their true human nature. Shangguan Ping's Comprehensive History of Chinese Emperors gathers solid historical records scattered in history into a powerful fist, shattering the "divine" imperial shell ("All descendants of the High Emperor have high foreheads, the dragon species are distinct from ordinary people"); with concise language and skillful writing, it wipes away the seemingly radiant yet illusory golden halo on the high noses of the self-proclaimed "scions of heaven," restoring their true human nature. Our nation has endured numerous hardships, and the author focuses on the "waves" at the forefront of history, neither glorifying their merits nor hiding their faults; there is no intention of vilifying or exaggerating. Everything is merely about stripping away the "beautiful veil" and presenting a realistic portrayal. Emperors shape history, and history, in its ups and downs, reveals the emperors. Shangguan Ping takes the official history as the main thread, selects materials meticulously and categorizes them systematically, following the internal logic of political development, with a scientific and rigorous attitude and methodology, conducting multi-dimensional comparisons and comprehensive explorations of numerous emperors. At the same time, he also provides a realistic and incisive analysis of the reasons for the rise and fall, success and failure of various dynasties.
