Features: Mr. Ma Feibai has dedicated decades to researching the "Lingde Chapter of Guanzi," and since 1943, he has been writing "Interpretation of the Revised Lingde Chapter of Guanzi," which has undergone seven revisions. His third draft was referenced and included in the bibliography of Guan Wu Ji Xue (Collected Studies on Guanzi) compiled by Guo Moruo in the mid-1950s. Over 100 references were cited from this draft. Guo Moruo later wrote a letter to Mr. Ma, evaluating the draft and suggesting, "Write a comprehensive study in the form of an essay." Mr. Ma accepted this advice and wrote three essays, collectively titled "On the Lingde Chapters of Guanzi." The annotations and interpretations of the original text have also been revised multiple times. Now, we have combined both parts for publication and, in accordance with Mr. Ma's wishes, have included a facsimile of Guo Moruo's letter at the beginning.
In this book, the author pays particular attention to studying the era in which the "Lingde Chapters" were written and the fundamental theoretical framework that permeates them, using this as a guide for the specific textual annotations. He has also conducted comprehensive analysis and research on the meanings of common words and specialized terms in the "Lingde Chapters." In the annotations of the original text, he adopts a cautious approach, making changes, additions, deletions, or rearrangements only when he deems them necessary. He has put forward many independent insights in his explanations of certain issues and intentions related to the "Lingde Chapters" and has engaged in debates with differing opinions. It is believed that the publication of this book will contribute to the exchange of diverse viewpoints in the study of the "Lingde Chapters," thereby promoting deeper research.
