Features: This book, The Heart of the Path to Enlightenment, is renowned both at home and abroad for a lifetime of study and practice of the Comprehensive (or Brief) Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment. It is the personal notes of A, a student of Lobsang Rampa, known as the "Practitioner of the Path to Enlightenment" (i.e., Lobsang Rampa). According to the foundation of contemporary practitioners, the focus of study and practice is placed on the lower stage of the path, hence the teachings on the lower stage are more detailed, while the rest are more concise. More than half of the book is dedicated to the lower stage of the path, with detailed explanations of the method of approaching the guru, implying that forming a connection with the guru is of utmost importance.
The Comprehensive (or Brief) Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment is a method of spiritual cultivation that strongly addresses the worldly mindset of people. Each principle in it is set against the corresponding ignorance, such as the contemplation of impermanence targeting the ignorance of permanence, the contemplation of karmic retribution targeting the ignorance of the cause and effect, and so on. The practice of the path to enlightenment is a battle between wisdom and the ignorance in the heart. Recognizing a principle, dispelling a state of delusion, and realizing a truth—this is the process of breaking through and awakening. In this process, there is first the knowledge of the principle, and only after dispelling the delusion of ignorance does a new state of enlightenment arise, which is wisdom born from the heart and replaces ignorance.
