What are the risks of varicocele surgery?

Patient's question:

Married, these days my left testicle hurts. I see worm-like veins on the testicle, and when I hold it firmly, I can see a few blue veins. I think it's severe varicocele. If I have surgery, what are the risks?

Doctor's answer:

Asymptomatic mild varicocele does not require treatment. For moderate varicocele or those accompanied by neurasthenia, report scrotal cold packs. For severe varicocele, sperm count continuously below 20 million per million for three times, or testicular atrophy; if the varicose veins disappear when lying flat, the inguinal internal spermatic vein ligation can be performed. Men with urological diseases can use home remedies as supplementary treatment while taking symptomatic medication. In daily diet, avoid excessive hunger or fullness, and never overeat or binge drink.
