Features: History is a leading discipline at Sichuan University and one of the oldest academic departments in the university. In the Sichuan Higher School established in 1902, students were required to take public courses, including foreign history, before enrollment. In the Sichuan School of Ancient Studies founded in 1910, history was taught alongside Confucian classics and Chinese literature. In 1918, it was renamed the Department of History. In 1924, the Department of History was officially established at Sichuan University, becoming one of the earliest 10 departments in the university's history. Professor Ren Naiqiang (1894-1989), styled Xiaozhuang, was a native of Nanchong, Sichuan. A renowned historian and ethnologist, he was one of the pioneers of modern Tibetan studies in China. He served as a professor at Chongqing University, West China University of Medical Sciences, and Sichuan University, as well as a council member of the China National Ethnic Research Society. He was also an advisor to the Chinese Ethnic History Society and the Sichuan Ethnic Studies Society, and a special research fellow at the Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences. This book is a collection of Professor Ren Naiqiang's historical essays. It includes more than 20 of his representative works on ethnic history and general history.
