Its founding purpose is to vigorously promote the implementation of the city's overall strategy for revitalizing the city through science and education, to adapt to the needs of building a learning city and promoting the all-round development of people, to enrich the spiritual and cultural life of the general public, and to stay close to reality, life, and the masses. It aims to establish a main venue for publicity and ideological work that serves the grassroots and the public. The content of the Dongfang Lectures mainly includes ten categories: international situation, national conditions, and municipal conditions; current affairs, policies, and social hot issues; personal development and moral growth; education and management; history and culture; economy and finance; legal knowledge; art appreciation; national defense knowledge; and health and wellness. The Dongfang Lectures gathers experts and scholars active in various disciplines of social sciences, forming a high-quality team of lecturers. The lecture venues of the Dongfang Lectures are spread across all districts and counties in the city, receiving widespread praise from all sectors of society. The founding philosophy of the Dongfang Lectures is "people-oriented, serving the masses, spreading knowledge, and enhancing civilization." Through operational mechanisms such as serializing lectures, branding image identification, networked lecture management, menu-style lecture selection, socialized audience organization, contracted faculty recruitment, sustained project expansion, strong promotion and publicity, and diversified funding sources, it strives to shape a new brand for ideological and cultural construction. To further expand the social influence of high-quality lecture resources, the Dongfang Lectures Office began compiling and publishing the Dongfang Lectures in 2005. The 24 lecture manuscripts included in this volume are the first batch selected from over 1,000 lectures, now compiled into a book to be enjoyed by readers.
