Features: Since 1989, the author has primarily taught Ancient Chinese at universities, covering not only ancient knowledge but also selected ancient texts. The textbook was initially based on Wang Li's Ancient Chinese and later's Ancient Chinese, with references to other similar textbooks, Zhu Dongrun's Selected Works of Chinese Literature Through the Ages (hereinafter referred to as Selected Works), and annotations from original classical texts. The last few dozen entries in this book are corrections to annotations of classical medical Chinese, written for students of traditional Chinese medicine in self-study programs a few years ago. The teaching material used was Classical Medical Chinese, edited by Duan Yishan and published by Shanghai Scientific and Technical Publishers. This textbook has had a significant impact, having been reprinted over ten times and distributing over 800,000 copies. However, some annotations still leave room for debate. The author has examined and corrected 17 annotations, some of which were published in Documents or Advances in Chinese Medical Education Research (Volume 10) and are now included in this book. The 180 corrected articles included in this book are divided into three parts: ancient poetry (including ci poems, qu poems, and songs), classical prose (including parallel prose, legends, and fiction), and classical medical Chinese. Since the textbook includes a small number of general classical texts, the last two entries are analyses of terms from general classical texts. Although they should have been included in the second part, they are still placed under classical medical Chinese because their annotations originate from Classical Medical Chinese.
