Economics in the real world

Features: Most of the articles collected in this book were written for newspapers and magazines after I returned to Peking University to teach in 1995. Looking back, time has passed quickly. In this book, the articles under the column "Another Look at Monopoly" are essentially by-products of my participation in water conservancy research. As an "expert in telecom economics" — I was "involved" in the telecom liberalization debate in the fall of 1998 — most of the relevant articles have been included in the book "Network Competition" published by Sanlian Bookstore. My understanding of the economic issues in the network industry comes entirely from "I Water Conservancy." More generally, the economic logic is the same whenever "national administrative monopoly" is added to the concepts of "natural monopoly" and "economies of scale." Some articles in this book dare to "tackle" education, postal services, and the stock market, with the same analytical approach, but the specific constraints in each industry are different, making the "tackling" diverse and each with its own meaning.
