Zhu Ziqing (1898–1948), styled Peiyan, was originally named Zihua and styled Qiushi. He was from Yangzhou, Jiangsu, and originally from Shaoxing, Zhejiang. A famous litterateur, he entered the preparatory department of Peking University at the age of 18 and then enrolled in the philosophy department the following year. In May 1920, he left Peking University and taught at various schools, including Zhejiang Normal School, Yangzhou No. 8 Middle School, Wusong Chinese Public College, Taizhou No. 1 Normal School, Wenzhou Provincial No. 10 Middle School, and Ningbo Provincial No. 4 Middle School. In March 1924, he was hired as a Chinese literature teacher at Chunhui Middle School, authoring numerous articles such as "A Month at Chunhui." In 1925, he was appointed as a professor and department head of the Chinese Literature Department at Tsinghua University. He was a renowned modern litterateur and a strong democratic and patriotic figure. Comrade Mao Zedong highly praised his national spirit and anti-imperialist stance. He authored poetry and prose collections such as "Traces," "Behind the Wheel," "Notes on a European Journey," and literary essays like "On Language and Thought."
