Features: The Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) Text and Vocabulary section requires Level 1 candidates to master a vocabulary of nearly 10,000 words. However, by reviewing test papers over the past ten years, it is evident that the question range in the Text and Vocabulary section, aside from reading comprehension vocabulary, has largely stayed within the scope of the "JLPT Test Question Standards," which lists 7,800 words. Even when "outside the standards" vocabulary occasionally appears in the answer choices, the correct answer is almost always within the 7,800-word range. Therefore, mastering these 7,800 words is crucial. As a result, the vocabulary in this book is carefully selected to stay within the "Test Question Standards."
Exercises are categorized by part of speech, allowing readers to clearly understand the vocabulary volume for each part of speech in Level 1 and study more effectively. The questions align with the new exam syllabus and are primarily designed in the format of the latest test papers. However, the sections on "Kanji to Kana" and "Kana to Kanji" require readers to practice writing. When learning vocabulary, focus should be placed on reading words, multiple meanings, synonyms, fixed expressions, and words that Chinese learners often misinterpret by literal translation.
It is worth noting that while this exercise book is primarily focused on Level 1 vocabulary, it also covers Level 2 vocabulary. This is because the annual Level 1 exam occasionally includes some words equivalent to Level 2 difficulty. Therefore, while studying for Level 1, do not neglect Level 2 vocabulary. At the end of the book, a Level 1 vocabulary list is provided, along with an appendix of newly added Level 1 words from the updated exam syllabus for reference.
This exercise book has been reviewed by Japanese language expert Professor Hirohara, for which we express our sincere gratitude. Other contributors include Sun Longmei, Li Ye, Zhang Ming, Han Zijing, Guo Rong, Li Peiqin, and Zeng Kefan. Due to the limitations of our expertise, any errors in this book are kindly corrected.
Finally, we sincerely wish all readers success in achieving good results and passing the Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 2 this year.
