Features: This series of books has two key concepts: " stories" and " sentiments." The rich variety of "stories" behind the mountains and waters is a major characteristic of Chinese landscapes. Due to the long-standing civilization and historical heritage, as well as the long-term agricultural lifestyle, the "stories" behind China's mountains and waters are particularly abundant, meaning that the cultural landscapes are exceptionally rich, and the accumulation of historical and cultural heritage is particularly profound. This series blends landscape aesthetics, anecdotes and legends, literary works about mountains and waters, and local customs into one, offering readers a "comprehensive collection of stories."
sentiments are a unique cultural mindset formed by the ancestors of our nation over a long period in agricultural society. The publication of this series in its current form is the result of the joint efforts of many colleagues and friends. Special thanks go to Mr. Luo Zhewen, who tirelessly explored the mountains and forests to protect cultural heritage, as well as the renowned photographers Gu Di, Li Yuxiang, Wu Yinnan, and Li Xiangde, who provided a wealth of photographs of cultural relics, historic sites, and artistic landscapes, adding a rich classical poetic charm to the series.
As one volume in the " China" illustrated series, this book offers a panoramic overview of the scenic spots, historic sites, legends, and local customs of Jiangsu Province, accompanied by nearly 200 illustrations. The text is elegant and the illustrations are exquisite, distinguished from the current popular tourism guides that focus on information and academic works that study history and culture. This allows readers to savor the essence of "walking" through the pages.
