Is aplastic anemia curable?

Patient's question:

My wife developed aplastic anemia after giving birth to our baby. I don't know what happened, and I wonder if aplastic anemia is treatable now.

Doctor's answer:

Aplastic anemia is a self-limiting functional failure caused by various different reasons, ultimately leading to an increase in the number of all blood cells in patients. Once diagnosed, active and cooperative targeted treatment is required. It is not an incurable disease. Patients should always maintain a positive attitude. The prognosis is good for the vast majority of patients. Chronic diseases can be maintained with traditional Chinese medicine, but it is difficult to return to the previous level of life. For acute cases, grafting is the only way to self-repair. For chronic cases, bed rest with appropriate exercise is mainly recommended; high-protein, high-vitamin, easily digestible foods should be consumed, and attention should be paid to living environment, skin, oral hygiene, and food hygiene.
