Features: "Project Environmental Management" refers to the comprehensive responsibility undertaken by the project entity throughout the entire life cycle of an engineering project, involving specialized environmental management throughout the process. The Wannianzhai Yellow River Diversion Project in Shanxi Province is a large-scale trans-basin water diversion project funded by the World Bank. During the preparation and implementation phases of the project, China pioneered the "Project Environmental Management" model, including the preparation of comprehensive environmental impact assessment reports and environmental management plans, establishing specialized environmental management institutions within the project management structure, implementing environmental supervision and management, and formulating and implementing environmental management plans for the operational phase. This provided a relatively comprehensive and beneficial exploration and practice in project environmental management, yielding significant results: reducing adverse environmental impacts to the lowest or acceptable level and effectively protecting the health of construction personnel and the public along the project route. This book provides a comprehensive summary of the environmental management practices of the Yellow River Diversion Project. We believe that drawing on the experience, lessons, research, and discussions of the Yellow River Diversion Project's environmental management, as well as exploring and gradually implementing project environmental management in domestic projects, will fill the gap in environmental management for engineering projects in China. This holds great and far-reaching significance.
